The programme for the gala concert consists of scenes, duets and trios from the “gold reserves” of the theatre’s ballet repertoire: the ballets The Sleeping Beauty and Le Corsaire by Marius Petipa, Le Carnaval and Schéhérazade by Michel Fokine and The Nutcracker by Vasily Vainonen. In an impetuous cascade of dance, the naive pas de trois from Die Puppenfee by the Legat brothers will succeed the gracious trio of bees from The Nutcracker (staging by Mihail Chemiakin and choreography by Kirill Simonov) and the playful duet of the Puss in Boots and the White Cat from The Sleeping Beauty by George Balanchine’s dazzling Tarantella.
