Fyodor Chernyshov was born in St Petersburg in 1995. Has studied the flute from the age of six. In 2013 he entered the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Denis Lupachev), and in 2018 he entered the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart (class of Davide Formisano).
Prize-winner at the Oblast Open Competition for Young Performers of Wind and Percussion Instruments (St Petersburg, 2011, Grand Prix), the St Petersburg Open Competition for Young Performers of Wind and Percussion Instruments (2011, 3rd prize), the All-Russian Andrei Petrov Composers’ Competition (2016, audience award) and the Siberian Musical Assemblies International Competition and Festival for Young Performers of Wind and Percussion Instruments (Novosibirsk, 2017, 1st prize) and several-times prize-winner at the Crescendo International Festival (St Petersburg – New York, 2011–2014). In 2011 he received the Russian Presidential Prize for the support of talented youth.
Has taken part in master-classes conducted by Vincent Lucas, Olga Chernyadieva, Alexander Golyshev, Davide Formisano, Denis Bouriakov, Felix Renggli and Emmanuel Pahud.
Has participated in programmes of the St Petersburg Music House since 2014.
