Leonid Zolotarev


Graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1991 as a pianist (class of Professor V.A. Kalmykov). From 1990 he combined working as a concert master at the Opera Studio of the St Petersburg Conservatoire, where he was responsible for the musical preparation of opera productions, and as a concert master in Professor M.L. Kheifets’ opera class at the conservatoire.

Since 2000 he has been a concert master with the Mariinsky Opera Company. He has worked on Mahler’s Eighth Symphony and productions of operas by Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Sergei Prokofiev, Rodion Shchedrin, Leoš Janáček, Maurice Ravel and Giacomo Puccini.

He works in close co-operation with the Mariinsky Theatre’s leading concert mistress Marina Mishuk. He has collaborated with soloists including Larisa Gogolevskaya, Olga Sergeyeva, Larisa Diadkova, Olga Savova, Oleg Balashov, Leonid Zakhozhaev, Viktor Lutsyuk, Alexei Steblyanko, Sergei Leiferkus, Nikolai Putilin, Viktor Chernomortsev, Gennady Bezzubenkov, Vladimir Vaneyev, Mikhail Kit and Yevgeny Nikitin.
