Born in St Petersburg.
Began his creative career in 1987. Has been involved in numerous artistic events, seminars, festivals and exhibitions. From 1999 to 2002 he was the co-ordinator of the PRO ARTE Multimedia Laboratory.
Since 2000 he has been the director and video artist of several theatre productions. His vast creative biography includes such co-productions as works with Andrei Moguchy (Jakob Lenz 2001; Boris Godunov, 2003; Dostoevsky Trip during the Helsinki Festival in 2003, Between the Wolf and the Dog, 2004, NOT HAMLET, 2006 and Silenzio, a Diana Vishneva gala at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2007) as well as the multimedia design of the awards ceremonies for prizes including the Golden Mask in 2002 and the Golden Sofit in 2008 and 2010.
In 2009 Sergei Malyshev appeared as a stage director and media producer for the mono-opera The Letters of Van Gogh by Grigory Frid at the Hermitage Theatre.
