Production Designer

Born in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Trained under Percy Harris (Motley Theatre Design Course). Previously for the Mariinsky Theatre he has designed productions of Die Frau ohne Schatten and Elektra. Other opera credits include Guillaume Tell (Pesaro, Turin and Bologna), Nabucco (Tokyo), Mittwoch from the cycle Licht, He Had It Coming and Fidelio (Birmingham), Aida (Bregenz Festival, lake stage), Die Gezeichneten (Palermo), Hippolyte et Aricie, The Fairy Queen, Pelléas et Mélisande, Lulu, The Turn of the Screw, Don Giovanni (Glyndebourne), Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Mitridate, re di Ponto, Falstaff, I masnadieri, The Midsummer Marriage (Covent Garden), Le Roi Arthus, Parsifal (Paris), Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Moses und Aron (Metropolitan Opera New York), Die Zauberflöte (Salzburg), Peter Grimes, Don Carlo (Sydney), Tristan und Isolde (Berlin), Rigoletto (Madrid), Thaïs (Chicago), Káťa Kabanová, Lucio Silla, The Tempest, Le nozze di Figaro (Santa Fe), La traviata (Verona, Birmingham), Anna Bolena (Verona), Méphistophélès (Amsterdam) and Die Zauberflöte (Bolshoi Theatre); has also designed for productions of The Phantom of the Opera (UK and USA tours, new sets), As You Desire Me, The Country Wife, The Sea, Marguerite (West End), The Tempest, Naked, Richard II, Coriolanus, King Lear, Platonov (Almeida), Emperor and Galilean, The False Servant and Oedipus (National Theatre).
