Valentin Lyashchenko was born in Kursk in 1982 to a musical family. Graduated with distinction from Moscow Military Music School (2001, clarinet class of Boris Karpov) and Moscow Military Conservatory (2006, conducting class of Vladimir Ivanov and clarinet class of Boris Dikov). Trained with the Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Naval Base under Alexei Karabanov.
Captain 2nd rank (2021). From 2006 to 2008 he was Military Conductor of the St Petersburg Military High School for Radio Electronics. Subsequently he was Artistic Director and a conductor (2008–2011), Military Conductor (2011–2014) and Director (2014–2021) of the Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Naval Base. Under the baton of Valentin Lyashchenko the ensemble has appeared in St Petersburg, Moscow, Tambov, Pskov, Veliky Novgorod, Petrozavodsk and Arkhangelsk and has toured to Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands and China. Since June 2021 he is Director and Principal Conductor of the Rimsky-Korsakov Central Exemplary Concert Orchestra of the Russian Navy (Moscow). Participant in numerous festivals and other musical projects, among them Tribute to the Maestro, Living Threads of Times, Grand Waltz, Music of the Great Hermitage, Admiralty Music, The Fleet and Children and the annual concerts in memory of the sailors of the sunken nuclear submarine Komsomolets. Regularly takes part in military parades; in 2021 he commanded a combined naval band of the Principal Naval Parade in St Petersburg.
Recipient of the Youth Prize of St Petersburg for Artistic Creativity (2011) and the St Petersburg City Government Prize for Culture and Arts for 2016. Recipient of the Silver Medal of the Supreme Apostle St Peter 1st class (2012/2013).
Has taught conducting at the Secondary Special Music School of the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory, where he directed the school’s brass band. Member of the Worldwide Club of Petersburgers.
In 2018 the label Northern Flowers released the disc Marches from the Russian Empire, recorded by the Admiralty Orchestra conducted by Valentin Lyashchenko.
